Webster Hall Studio pt.3
The end of Team Spirit’s set was immediately followed by a sense of hovering anticipation… or maybe it was just me because I was so excited for Empires to come on. *_* Still, I think it’s safe to guess the same went for everybody else. At this point it was hard to imagine how much more awesome the night could possibly get, but of course we didn’t have a long wait before Empires would have an answer to that.
Opening with “Hello Lover”.
It didn’t take long for me to realize that the audience knew the words to every song that played. I said a while back that I haven’t been to that many concerts, but none of the ones I’ve been to were ever quite like this. I don’t mean they were singing along sporadically, or to just the chorus, or only when a more well-known song came on. I mean, at least by the middle of the set, the entire crowd, as a whole, was literally singing all the words to every song. Such a fantastic group, and Sean couldn’t stop saying how gorgeous everyone sounded. For audience participation and the vibe and energy of both the fans and the musicians I can say with certainty that to date, this is the most enjoyable and memorable show I’ve been to.
So, you can imagine that when it came time to end the show, no one particularly wanted that to happen. The band packed up and made their exit and all the fans implored and besought and chanted for one more song until they caved and Sean and Max came back out, making the next song Audience’s Choice! After some lengthy discussion and deliberation (lol not really), Hayley seemed to get the most shout-outs, of which they did a little acoustic version.
Hayley… It doesn’t even matter now…
